Laurelwell is a timer for a daily stillness practice. Choose a stillness, set the minutes, and tap Begin. A higher tone tells you to breathe in and a lower one to breathe out. When the bell rings, you’re done. A practice of a minute or more adds a jewel to your chain. Ten days in a row earns your first laurel, and there are ten to earn, up to a thousand days.
What’s free and what’s not. Calm, Just sit, practices of up to ten minutes, the Pure tone, Tide, the Laurel bell, every visual, the chain, every laurel, and the daily nudge are free. Evergreen is a single purchase, made once, that opens everything else: the other four stillnesses, practices up to an hour, the other breath tones, the other sounds under the breath, the other bells, the interval bell, and the key. There is no subscription.
Your days stay on your device. The days you practice, your chain, and your laurels are saved on the phone or iPad you practice with, and nowhere else. They are not shared between devices. Deleting the app deletes them.
What counts. A practice counts for the day when it lasts a minute or more, even if you end it early. A practice under a minute does not add a jewel. You can practice as often as you like, and the day counts once. A missed day starts the chain again, but laurels, once earned, are yours.
Sound. The tones and bell play even with the screen locked, so you can practice with the phone face down. The lock screen shows the practice, and you can pause it there. A phone call, Siri, or unplugged headphones pause the practice, and it picks up where it left off. Softer, in Settings, turns the volume of all our sounds down a step. Low tones are thin on a phone’s speaker and full in headphones. In headphones, the sounds under the breath also carry a gentle theta beat: each ear hears its notes six hertz apart, which comes through as a slow pulse, six times a second.
Pause and End. Tap the screen during a practice to see them.
Health. Turn on Log your practices in Health in Settings, and each counted practice is added to Mindful Minutes in the Health app, with its start and end and nothing more. Laurelwell never reads anything from Health. If you said no to Apple’s prompt and change your mind, open the Health app, tap your picture, then Apps, then Laurelwell.
Sharing a laurel. When you earn a laurel, tap Share to send a picture of it with a line about it to Messages, Instagram, or wherever you like. Any laurel you’ve earned can be shared again from My laurels.
Restoring Evergreen. The same Apple Account opens Evergreen on your other iPhone or iPad. Choose Restore purchase in Settings.
Laurelwell runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later.
Laurelwell respects the Reduce Motion setting: with it on, the jewels and the breathing visuals hold still and only their light changes. Every screen but the practice itself follows the system text size. The controls are labeled for VoiceOver, and the time left is read as minutes and seconds. If something stands in your way, write to us. We would like to hear about it.
Laurelwell is a relaxation and focus aid, not a medical device, and it makes no health claims. Breathe at a pace that is comfortable. If a pattern makes you lightheaded, choose a gentler one, or just sit and enjoy the tones as a gentle reminder to notice your breathing. If you are pregnant or have a heart or breathing condition, ask your doctor before practicing paced breathing.
